How To Make Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Yellow box cake
  • Cherry pie filling
  • Crushed pineapple
  • Butter

Important tips before starting

  • There are two favorable methods to using box cake as a topping. For recipes such as my blueberry cobbler using cake mix, I have used butter slices. But, for a dump cake, I find melting the butter first gives the perfect fluffy topping.
  • You can play around with French vanilla cake mix, vanilla or yellow. All give great results with different flavors to blend with the pineapples and cherries.
  • Note, anytime using the cake mix in this way without mixing you may get some dry spots. They are random and hard to predict where and how. So, if they do occur you did nothing wrong and this recipe didn’t fail you. We are using the cake mix in a way it wasn’t intended to skip steps so things happen.
