The best baked turkey wings straight from the oven with a ton of flavor and juicy every time. See my tricks to easy but flavorful turkey wings.

A southern classic, baked turkey wings are very popular during many times of the year. But, they have a strong presence during holidays or any family get togethers.
They need to be flavorful and they better not be dry!
The secret to juicy poultry is always in the moisture because chicken and turkey are naturally lean cuts of meat. Recipes like turkey meatballs or crockpot turkey wings are great because the turkey cooks in it’s own juices.
Let’s get started and I can show you exactly my methods to the best baked turkey wings.

How To Make Baked Turkey Wings
Ingredients needed
- Turkey wings
- Yellow onion
- Green bell pepper
- Chicken broth
- Seasonings (salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder and brown sugar)
Helpful tips before starting the recipe
- Do not submerge the turkey wings in broth of you want the seasoning to stick to the wings. Fill the broth just under the tops of the wings. Some of the seasoning will come off but it will be in the juices and still flavor the turkey from the bottom.
- You do not have to seperate the drum and the flat unless this is your personal preference. They will both cook evenly.

Making the baked turkey wings
- To start, make the seasoning rub for the turkey wings. There will be extra but you will use all of it.
- Next, remove the turkey wings from the package and pat them dry if needed. You do not need to rub them with oil for the seasoning to stick.
- Cover the turkey wings heavy in the seasoning. Any seasoning remaining or falls off the turkey wings save it for later.
- In a16x9 baking dish, layer sliced onions and bell peppers. Next, any leftover seasoning sprinkle over those veggies.
- Lay turkey wings on top of the sliced vegetables. Then, pour in the chicken broth. Stop pouring just under the tops of the turkey wings to avoid washing away the seasoning. Cover the baking dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 2 hours then remove the covering and bake for another 30 minutes to one hour. The turkey is done you are just browning the tops a little more.
- Remove from oven and allow it to cool before serving.
Storing your leftover wings
You can store these in an airtight container in fridge for up to 4 days. You may be able to push it to 5 but before that I would suggest freezing them.
This recipe works well frozen and to save them for a much later date.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What temperature are turkey wings done?
According to the USDA*, turkey or poultry is safe to eat at 165F. But, from experience with dark meat, the meat tends to be more tender around 185F. Be sure to keep liquid on it to avoid drying it out, but the fat should carry it to that point just fine. A meat thermometer is great for this and I always keep one handy.
How do you keep turkey moist in the oven?
Liquid and moisture, if you keep baked turkey wings or any poultry in a moist environment it will do well. This is why you cover them the majority of the cook. Quick tip and secret, you do not have to uncover them. They will still cook all the way through. I only suggest uncovering them for looks when serving. Beautiful food tends to taste amazing.
