But what about the yams?
Crockpot candied yams you can bring in the crockpot already prepared and warm to the family get together. They’re buttery and sweet and most of all they were easy to make.
You can use canned yams as a substitute but actual sweet potatoes are not a problem.
I’ll show you step by step how to prep them and let them cook while you do other things with your life.
How To Make Crockpot Candied Yams
Ingredients needed
- Sweet potatoes
- Cornstarch
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Vanilla extract
- Water
- Brown sugar
- Granulated sugar

Making the crockpot candied yams recipe
- First, peel and chop up the sweet potatoes then place them in the crockpot.
- Add the seasoning of salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, granulated sugar and vanilla extract over the chopped sweet potatoes.
- In a mixing cup, mix the water and cornstarch together then pour it in the crockpot.
- Turn the crockpot on high and cook for 3 hours stirring more or less each hour. This isn’t a recipe you should place on low and not comeback because you do need to turn the potatoes in the crockpot for the recipe to cook evenly.
- Once the candied yams are soft stir in bits of butter then taste for salt. Be careful because the yams will be extremely hot.

- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon

- 3 tablespoon cornstarch
- 4 tablespoon butter
