Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake
It's a pure bliss of richness with this chocolate cherry dump cake. A moist devils food cake topping with sweet, tart cherries tucked underneath.
Equipment
- 9×13 baking pan
Ingredients
- 42 ounce cherry pie filling (this is 2 cans)
- 16.5 ounce chocolate cake mix (devils food cake mix)
- 12 tablespoon butter (cold)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉.
- Spread the canned cherries across the bottom of the baking pan.
- In another bowl, add the cake mix and cold butter. Cut the butter into the cake mix using a pastry cutter or your hands by squeezing the ingredients together. Note, you can also use a food processor because using your hands is very tiring. I also added the grating method below.
- Spread the crumbled cake mix across the cherries.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. When done, remove from the oven and allow to cool about 15-20 minutes.
- After cooling, serve and enjoy!
Notes
Grating the butter, place the butter in the freezer for 20 minutes then grate it. Spread the butter gratings across the top of the cake mix in the baking pan and it consistently reduces the dry spots.

Oh my goodness! This is the best recipe ever! So easy. So delicious. I took it to a meeting, and the pan was cleaned out. It was still warm when I got there. I also served it with vanilla ice cream. Very yummy. Thank you for sharing.
