How To Make A Hamburger Salad

Ingredients needed

  • Ground beef
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Hamburger pickles
  • Red onion
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Dressing ingredients (listed below)

Quick tip before starting

There are two options for the dressing. One is to purchase from the store and the other is homemade. If you plan this out, I suggest making the dressing a day before. This gives the flavors time to come together. A homemade dressing is always better the next day.

Making the hamburger salad easily

  1. First in a frying pan, brown the ground beef and season with seasoning salt. Salt and pepper are fine but the seasoning salt gives the beef more of the fast food feel.
  2. Next, chop up the romaine lettuce and red onion.
  3. In a salad bowl, add all of the ingredients together and toss them to be as even as possible.
  4. Next, add in the dressing and toss the hamburger salad to cover all the ingredients.
  5. While serving occasionally toss the salad because the heavier ingredients like to settle at the bottom, enjoy.

Storing the leftovers

The salad will keep just fine for about 2 days in the refrigerator. It’s possible but 3 days is pushing it depending on how fresh the ingredients were to start.

Be sure to store the salad in an air tight container. As mentioned earlier, the salad is great for making ahead especially the dressing. But when serving later, add the dressing at the point of serving.

Where to buy the dressing

There are a bunch of brands who have their versions of the classic Big Mac sauce. They will be labeled as special sauce or burger sauce. Most stores carry some version of this and you can skip making the homemade version to save yourself some time.
