Any Chinese take out dish I go head over heals for. Not only are their dishes packed with flavor but they are incredibly fit while eating such good food. Naturally, I eat a keto diet but being a weightlifter carbs are a major help some days. I like to enjoy healthy, delicious meals like these. Served with rice or noodles.

What Is Stir Fry

Stir fry is a Chinese way of cooking. It is based off off cooking on high heat very quickly. Typically, you’ll see a wok used for these recipes because it allows more of stirring and flipping with the higher sides. The meat used is sliced very thin for a quick cook and the vegetables are left with a slight crunch.

Is Stir Fry Healthy

This is very debatable! I feel like some aren’t and others aren’t. Most Chinese dishes have been Americanized with tons of sugar which isn’t typical of their dishes. Granted, some dishes do have sugar in them but it’s for a slight sweetness. Not such as sesame chicken which is covered in honey. The average dish from Chinese culture I’d consider very healthy.

Do I Need To Boil Broccoli Before Stir Fry

No not at all. If you like your broccoli extra soft, then yes you should. The method used here will keep a slight crunch to the broccoli. For the tender, soft, soaked in stir fry type broccoli then boiling first is what you want. I don’t blame you that broccoli is very tasty.

How To Make Chicken And Broccoli Stir Fry

When making stir fry gather all the ingredients before cooking. As mentioned above, this type of cooking moves really fast.

To start, marinate chicken. Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce and corn starch and mix well in chicken. Cover for about 5-10 minutes. While waiting, if you are using rice or noodles start cooking these now. That way they are done the same time the chicken and broccoli stir fry are.

Turn on skillet or wok to high heat. Add a little oil then toss in chicken. Allow chicken to sear and cook all the way through. This should take no more than 3-5minutes. Now, after chicken is done remove from pan.

Next, toss in broccoli. Season with salt and black or white pepper. Allow broccoli to cook a little to get a little searing and color to it. This step will take 2-3 minutes on a high heat.

Finally, pour in stir fry sauce then chicken and give it a good mix. Turn the heat off. Allow the flavors to work together while tossing in the pan as it cools. Serve by itself, over a bed of rice or noodles.
