Making the stuffed mushrooms in the air fryer

  1. To start, remove the stems from the mushrooms. Now, rinse the mushrooms and stems with water to remove excess dirt. Try to avoid soaking them, this can make them mushy in the end.
  2. Finely chop the stems then add to a hot pan. Once the water has evaporated from the chopped mushrooms, add in the onion with oil. Season with salt and black pepper.
  3. When the onions and mushrooms are fragrant and softened, add in the garlic, thyme and the parsley. Cook for about 1 minute then turn off the heat. Add in the Parmesan, squeeze the lemon then toss in the panko. Taste for salt.
  4. Oil the mushrooms then season both sides with salt and pepper. Now, add the filling to the mushrooms and set them to the side when done. Spray the tops with cooking spray.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 350F.
  6. Place the stuffed mushrooms and and do not crowd them. Leave at least an inch of space between each. Cook for 6-7 minutes or until the tops are golden and the mushrooms have cooked.
  7. Lastly, allow to cool a bit because the cheese will be hot within the filling.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How long to air fry stuffed mushrooms?

They should be done in under 10 minutes. Note, you can use any stuffed mushrooms for this recipe but a recipe with panko will need to be cooked at 350F and for a shorter time due to the panko.

Should you wash the mushrooms for stuffed mushrooms?

Mushrooms do not normally come washed. They are full of dirt still. You’ll need to rinse them off well but try to avoid soaking them for too long. They can absorb the water and make them a bit soggy after the cooking process if that excess water doesn’t evaporate.
