Salmon dish are fun. Crusted, alfredo, patties and bacon wrapped nuggets are a few you should definitely try if you’re a salmon fan.

But, air fryer salmon bites are a quick way to get your fix in a recipe that will only take 8-10 minutes to cook.

Skin on or skin off these salmon bites in the air fryer are seasoned perfect with a special spice blend that I created to hit all the notes you enjoy.

How To Make Air Fryer Salmon Bites

Ingredients needed

  • Salmon (skinless or skin on)
  • Spice rub (listed below)
  • Air fryer

Important tip before cooking

You may need to adjust the cooking time. This will depend on the power of your air fryer and how big you cut your salmon bites. I suggest small bites but not huge chunks like in my fried salmon nuggets.

Making the air fryer salmon bites

  1. To start, pat the salmon dry and slice into small bites. In some stores you can buy the salmon already cut into bites.
  2. In a bowl add the seasoning mix together. Now, drizzle the oil across the same then pour the seasoning on top and toss everything together.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400F.
  4. When the air fryer is up to temperature add the salmon bites to the basket and be sure not to crowd them. I was able to fit my pound in the air fryer with no issues. If there is skin place the skin side up first.
  5. Air fryer for 5 minutes then flip the salmon or simply give the basket a good shake. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the salmon is done.
  6. Allow to cool a little but no more than 3 minutes or so because fish gets cold really quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do you put skin up or skin down when air frying salmon?

Always skin up to start cooking. You want the skin to get the most heat and dry out to become crispy. If you start skin down the moisture will go into the skin and it will never get crispy that way.

At what temperature is salmon done in the air fryer?

According to the USDA*, a safe temperature for seafood is 145F. The salmon will easily flake with a fork and it won’t have that raw, wet pink look to it anymore.
