Bacon and ham hash brown skillet is a perfect breakfast recipe that’s easy to make. Crispy bacon, juicy ham, and cheddar cheese are served over shredded hash browns and fluffy eggs.
Recipe Highlights
- How it taste: Bacon and ham hash brown skillet is very simple but everything is meant to work together. The bacon and ham add a meaty flavor to the eggs while the hash brown bottom gives a filling finish.
- Skill level: Hash brown skillet recipes are very easy. Any beginner cook should not have an issue making this recipe at all.
- The process: You’ll cook the bacon and sear the ham first. Then, you cook and brown the hash browns in the same skillet. Next, you’ll top the cooked hash browns with cheese, egg, bacon and the ham. Bake until the egg is puffy and cooked through.
Ingredient tips
- Egg: Six eggs are used in the recipe. I used a 10 inch skillet and that amount worked perfect. If using something bigger or smaller, adjust to the skillet to avoid the eggs running over as they puff up in the oven.
- Bacon: Whatever bacon you prefer will be fine in this recipe. Whether it be turkey, pork, or beef they will all work the same.
- Ham: Diced ham out of the package is used. However, if you find yourself making this recipe around the holidays, this would be a perfect recipe to use your leftover ham.
- Seasonings: In the bacon and ham hash brown skillet I used only salt and pepper. But, when seasoning the hash browns feel free to add in some paprika, garlic, or onion powder.
Chef’s tips
- For the crispiest hash brown bottom, you’ll need to create it before going into the oven. Leave the hash brown alone in the pan after the first flip for some time to allow them to create that crispy bottom. If not, the bottom won’t come out crispy due to the eggs saturating the potatoes.
- When cooking the hash brown portion, watch out for the pan being dry. when you first add them to the pan there will be bacon grease. But, the first side of the hash browns will soak that up. So when you go to flip, if it looks really dry, add in the vegetable oil. This will make sure the bottom fries up nicely.
How To Make Bacon And Ham Hash Brown Skillet
- First, cook the bacon and sear the cubed ham. Remove them from the skillet leaving the grease.
- Next, you’ll add in the shredded hash browns and pat them down into the pan. Leave them there for a few minutes.
- After a few minutes, flip them and repeat the time so that the other side browns properly.
- Next, add half the cheese. Then, the whisked egg and lastly top the bacon and ham hash brown skillet off with the bacon, ham, and the rest of the cheese.
- Place in the preheated oven until the top if puffy and the center is cooked through.

Bacon And Ham Hash Brown Skillet
Bacon and ham hash brown skillet is a perfect breakfast recipe that's easy to make. Crispy bacon, juicy ham, and cheddar cheese are served over shredded hash browns and fluffy eggs.
Equipment
- 10 inch oven safe skillet
Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon (chopped)
- 6 ounce cubed ham
- 3 cup hash brown (use frozen shredded hash browns, thaw before cooking)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 6 large egg
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400℉.
- In the skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and add in the cubed ham. You're just going to sear the ham in the bacon grease then remove it once it has some color.
- There should be plenty of bacon grease left, now add in the thawed shredded hash browns. Season them a little then pat them down in pan and leave them there about 5 minutes on medium high heat.
- After 5 minutes, flip them. If the pan looks dry add a little vegetable oil (about 2 tablespoons) to the bottom of the pan to help the potatoes crisp. While cooking whisk together the eggs with the sour cream and season them with salt and pepper.
- Once the bottom of the hash browns are browned and crisp, add 1/2 cup of cheese on top. Then, pour the egg mixture on top. Next, sprinkle the chopped bacon, ham and the rest of the cheese on top. Now, place the skillet in the oven.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes to allow the egg to puff up and cook through the center.
- Once the eggs are done, remove and allow to cool a bit before serving, enjoy!
