How To Make Crockpot Crack Chicken
Ingredients needed
- Chicken breast
- Cream cheese
- Sour cream
- Ranch seasoning
- Bacon
- Cheddar cheese
Quick tip before starting the recipe
- The cream cheese and sour cream will mix together very well before cooking. But, as the chicken cooks the natural juices will be in the crockpot and there will be separation. You will need to mix very well with a whisk to combine everything smoothly like you see in the photos. The best time to do this is after you remove the chicken breast for shredding.
- When to add the bacon is very controversial. Some people like to add it while the meal cooks but I think it is best to add the bacon at the end of the cook. This way the bacon stays crisp while eating. But you can add the bacon during the cooking process if you’d like.

Making the crockpot crack chicken
- First, mix the cream cheese, sour cream and ranch seasoning in a bowl. Everything should be smooth and even then add it into the crockpot.
- Now, dry off the chicken breast if needed and add them straight into the crockpot. Be sure to put the chicken breast in the sauce and not just lay them on top of the sauce. They will not be completely submerged until they start to cook.
- Cook on high 3 hours or low for 6-7 hours. Right before the chicken is finished chop and cook the bacon.
- The chicken is tender enough to shred now. Remove the chicken. Take a whisk and blend the juices with the ranch cream sauce you made earlier to make everything smooth. Be careful not to scratch the coating on the crockpot.
- Now, add the shredded chicken back in and add 1 cup of cheese to the sauce. Mix everything together, the sauce should be smooth and creamy as the cheese melts.
- Lastly, top off with cheese and cover the lid. This will allow the steam to melt the cheese. Before serving, fold in the bacon pieces.

Do I need more liquid?
No you do not. However, I would not add the chicken to a completely dry crockpot but very little water or moisture is needed to cook the chicken.
