Crack chicken sliders are Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls stuffed with a mixture of shredded chicken in a creamy cream cheese filling with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and ranch seasoning. Perfect for game day, get-togethers or simply and dinner with the family!
Recipe Highlights
- How do they taste: Crack chicken sliders use the “crack chicken” theme that consist of a cream cheese base mixed with ranch seasoning. Then, sharp cheddar cheese is combined with a serving of crispy bacon. The combinations is very addictive hence the term crack chicken. But these are made into sliders using dinner rolls, specially Hawaiian rolls that add a special touch to the recipe with their sweet flavor and fluffy dough.
- Skill level: These are super easy to make. They’re beginner safe and practically impossible to mess up. The only thing that could possibly go wrong is you forget they are in the oven when baking and burn the dinner rolls.
- Serving: They store well and can be made in advance and baked later. They’re perfect for parties like game-day, grilling season and can be served as dinner or an appetizer as guest arrive.
Ingredient tips
- Meat: Shredded chicken is what’s used. A few options would be ground chicken, rotisserie chicken for ease or even turkey would work here. Stay away from anything with a strong flavor like beef though. It won’t pair as well with the filling.
- Cheese: Sharp cheddar cheese is used here for the sharpness. Parmesan is also sharper style cheese that’s used on top of the buns for an extra nutty flavor in every bite. The mozzarella is there for the creaminess it adds and the cheese pull when the filling is hot, it can be subbed for more cheddar cheese if you’d like. Pre-shredded cheese won’t be a problem here at all and is easier to use in the recipe.
- Rolls: Hawaiian rolls are used because they are beyond delicious. They’re light and fluffy in texture with a touch of sweetness makes them perfect. But, any dinner roll can be used here.
Storing
Any extra crack chicken sliders can be wrapped and stored in the fridge for later, up to 4 days. Take them out and eat them cold or reheat them a little in the microwave.
