Helpful tips

These sliders are super easy. The biggest advice I can say is make sure to cut the dinner rolls evenly. It’s very easy to cut at a slope and have some sliders that are completely unbalanced with bread.

The basil can be chopped up into the chicken or laid across the top, whichever you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 12 dinner rolls can be stretched to 24 if needed
  • 1 pound shredded chicken
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mozzarella shredded
  • basil to liking

Topping

  • 2 tablespoon butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • grated parmesan for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375℉.
  • In a pan on medium heat, add in the butter. If the butter melts super fast and is steaming the heat is way too high, lower it.
  • Once the butter is melted, add in the flour and whisk the flour and the butter for about 1 minute. Then, gradually pour in the milk while whisking. Continue to whisk until the milk has thickened then turn off the heat.
  • Now, add in the sun-dried tomatoes, oregano, thyme and salt and pepper to taste. After adding the seasonings, add the cream sauce with the shredded chicken and taste for salt one more time. Then, fold in the shredded cheese and basil. If it doesn't melt right away it's fine.
  • Note, do not separate the dinner rolls until the very end. Keep them together even when you slice them through the middle.
  • Cut the dinner rolls in half making a top and bottom bun. Next, spread the chicken mixture across the bottom half. You can make thick sliders with 12 rolls or slightly thinner with 24.
  • Melt the butter and mix in the seasoning for the topping. Place the top half of the bun over the chicken and bottom half then brush the tops with the butter mixture. Next, sprinkle the parmesan across the tops.
  • Place in the oven for 10-15 minutes. You're looking for the tops to brown nicely and then they are ready. Remove from the oven and separate the buns to serve the sliders.
