Quick tips for beginner cooks for the best soup
When making a soup with noodles, the noodles will absorb the liquid or broth from the soup overtime. I limit how many noodles I use to help with this but it’s something that does happen. With the leftovers, there won’t be much broth left because of the noodle.
Making the creamy parmesan Italian sausage soup with ease
- To start, brown the Italian sausage in the bottom of a pot. When done cooking remove the sausage.
- Now, add in the diced onion, garlic, and diced tomatoes. Cook these ingredients while scraping the bits leftover from the sausage a the bottom of the pot. Cook until the onions are translucent.
- Then, add in the butter and allow it to melt before tossing in the flour. Mix the flour with the butter and other ingredients for about a minute. Next, add back in the cooked sausage then pour in the broth.
- Bring the pot to a simmer. Then, add in the macaroni noodles and allow the noodles to fully cook. This will take 11-13 minutes on a simmer. Occasionally stir the pot during this time.
- When the noodles are done cooking, add in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Lastly, taste salt and pepper.
- Allow it to cool a bit before serving.

Trying this soup tonight. It looks great! One issue is that the amount of butter needed is not listed in the ingredients. I’ll use the standard ratios for making a roux, but you may want to edit the ingredient list.
Also, where does the 1 cup of water go? I added it when I put in the macaroni. Figured it might need a bit more liquid for absorption by the elbows.
That’s exactly what the water is for, the macaroni.
