To start, brown the Italian sausage in the bottom of a pot. When done cooking remove the sausage.
Now, add in the diced onion, garlic, and diced tomatoes. Cook these ingredients while scraping the bits leftover from the sausage a the bottom of the pot. Cook until the onions are translucent.
Then, add in the butter and allow it to melt before tossing in the flour. Mix the flour with the butter and other ingredients for about a minute. Next, add back in the cooked sausage then pour in the broth.
Bring the pot to a simmer. Then, add in the macaroni noodles and allow the noodles to fully cook. This will take 11-13 minutes on a simmer. Occasionally stir the pot during this time.
When the noodles are done cooking, add in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Lastly, taste salt and pepper.
Allow it to cool a bit before serving.
