Ingredients
 

  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
  • 15 ounce can of diced tomatoes, drained & rinsed
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup macaroni elbows, dry
  • 5 ounce parmesan, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions
 

  • To start, brown the Italian sausage in the bottom of a pot. When done cooking remove the sausage.
  • Now, add in the diced onion, garlic, and diced tomatoes. Cook these ingredients while scraping the bits leftover from the sausage a the bottom of the pot. Cook until the onions are translucent.
  • Then, add in the butter and allow it to melt before tossing in the flour. Mix the flour with the butter and other ingredients for about a minute. Next, add back in the cooked sausage then pour in the broth.
  • Bring the pot to a simmer. Then, add in the macaroni noodles and allow the noodles to fully cook. This will take 11-13 minutes on a simmer. Occasionally stir the pot during this time.
  • When the noodles are done cooking, add in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Lastly, taste salt and pepper.
  • Allow it to cool a bit before serving.
