How To Make Cajun Salmon

Ingredients needed

  • Salmon
  • Honey
  • Butter
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Salt & pepper

Quick tip about the recipe

In this recipe you’ll notice I do not use the cajun seasoning on the salmon before cooking. Spices burn very quickly but a perfectly seared salmon taste amazing.

Because of this the salmon is first seared at a high heat then the cajun is then added later at a much lower heat to prevent burning. With this method you’ll get the best flavors with every ingredient you use.

Making the honey butter cajun salmon

  1. First, mix together the honey, cajun seasoning and salt. Then, season the salmon with salt and pepper, preferably coarse salt and pepper.
  2. Now, in a frying pan on medium high heat add a little oil then place the salmon in the pan. Cook the salmon all the way through. Flipping the salmon every 3 minutes or so for even cooking.
  3. Then, when the salmon has a beautiful color lower the heat to medium and allow the pan to start cooling.
  4. Next, add in the butter and once it’s melted add in the honey mix from earlier as well. Now, begin to swirl the sauce around the pan while basting the salmon with the sauce. This will cool the pan down and also keep the sauce together.
  5. Once the sauce has thickened turn off the heat. Plate the salmon and spoon some of the sauce across the tops.
  6. Lastly, serve quickly because fish cools fast as well as the sauce. What will happen from the basting is the salmon will become sticky from the cooling honey, enjoy!
