Air fryer sweet potato wedges are a healthy side dish or snack that can be ready in 20 minutes or less, I’ll show you how.

A great way to get fiber and beta-carotene* are sweet potatoes. They are a great source of both but beyond that sweet potatoes are delicious.
These air fryer sweet potato wedges have just the right amount of spices to enhance the natural flavors of the sweet potato. Yet, you won’t lose the sweet potato flavor in the process.
You should have them ready from start to finish in 20 minutes or less but that doesn’t include cooling time. The insides will be hot when you pull them from the air fryer.
How To Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges
Ingredients needed
- Sweet potato
- Air fryer
- Seasonings (salt, sugar, cinnamon, black pepper and oil)
Important tips you should know before starting
- I hate when I see people promise crispy sweet potatoes. It’s almost impossible to achieve this even with frying. Due to fiber sweet potatoes don’t stay crispy. They are crispy when coming out of the air fryer or frying oil but they quickly go limp. I can promise you flavorful air fryer sweet potato wedges but not crispy ones.

Making sweet potato wedges in the air fryer
- First, peel the sweet potato then slice into wedges. They do not have to be perfect but slice in half the long way then cut the wedges from each half.
- In a bowl, toss the raw wedges with the seasonings and oil. Preheat the air fryer to 375F.
- When the air fryer is preheated remove the basket and add in the sweet potato wedges. Try not to crowd them but it doesn’t have to be perfect because you will shake the basket. You should be able to fit the entire sweet potato in.
- Air fry for 7 minutes. Remove the basket and shake the sweet potatoes around or rearrange them with tongs. Place basket back and air fry another 5 minutes. Depending on wattage you may need to add more or less time.
- When sweet potatoes are done allow to cool a bit before serving because the insides will be hot.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I eat the skin on a sweet potato?
Yes you can. In this recipe I peel the skin but you are welcome to leave it on. But, make sure you wash the sweet potato well before making the recipe.
Why aren’t my sweet potato wedges crispy?
This isn’t your fault. People lie all over the internet promising crispy sweet potatoes. They are crispy when they first come out but quickly become limp due to the natural ingredients in the potato. I’ve tested cornstarch with the recipe but that didn’t yield better results.
