How To Make Garlic Parmesan Fries
Ingredients needed
- Russet potatoes
- Shredded parmesan
- Parsley
- Seasonings (listed below)
Do you have to soak the potatoes?
I understand the science behind soaking the potatoes in water for a crispier texture. Honestly, I say skip it because the idea of using the air fryer is you want a recipe fast. I don’t think it creates as much of a difference without deep frying. The garlic parmesan fries came out crispy even without soaking in water.
Making the garlic parmesan fries recipe
- First, slice the russet potatoes into french fries. You can leave the skin on, simply wash the potato first. Try to slice the French fries thinly, avoid thick steak cut fries for the best texture.
- Now, oil the fries well and then add the seasonings. Do not add salt at this step. It’ll draw water from the potatoes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400F. Once heated, lay the fries in the basket without stacking them. The typical air fryer should fit one serving of fries.
- Cook the fries for 15 minutes and shake them halfway through the cook.
- When finish, transfer them to a plate then add the shredded parmesan cheese, parsley then salt to taste once they’ve cooled a little. Note, freshly shredded parmesan is best and produces the strongest flavor.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I bake this recipe?
Sure, follow all the steps but for the oven be sure to use a greased wire rack that has been sitting in the oven before adding the fries. Cook normally, and in the oven you won’t have to flip them.
Deep frying can be done as well but you don’t need me to tell you how to fry French fries in vegetable oil.
