How To Make Crockpot Turkey Breast
Ingredients needed
- Turkey breast
- Onion or potatoes (see tips section)
- Cooking oil
- Spice & herb rub for turkey (listed below)
Helpful tips about the recipe
- The onion or the potatoes only serve to lift the turkey from the bottom of the crockpot. The onions or potatoes are great for serving later because they are slow cooked in the turkey juices. But, they are only used as a shelf. For ease, I will write what I used in the recipe below.
- Gravy is a great part of turkey and for a simple gravy recipe that is also a copycat recipe click here.
- Choose a turkey breast that can fit in your crockpot. My local grocery store has huge ones and smaller 3-4 pound turkey breast like the one I used in this recipe.
- Do not remove the twine or the net around the turkey. It’s there to help with even cooking.

Making the crockpot turkey breast recipe
- First, remove the turkey from the package and pat it dry. Now, in a small bowl mix the spices and herbs together with the oil.
- Next, smother and rub the turkey down with this paste. Use all of it on the turkey, even the small paste pieces that fall off. Pick them up then rub them in again.
- Slice up and onion then lay it across the bottom of the crockpot. Pour in 1/4 cup of water, nothing more. Place the turkey on top of the onions. Put the lid on the crockpot then turn on low and cook for 4-5 hours. Do not cook try to cook on high.
- Check around the 3 hour mark with a meat thermometer and judge how much time left you need. For a 3 pound turkey, mines was ready right at the 4 hour mark.
- When ready turn the crockpot off. Cut the twine or the net from the turkey carefully. Allow the meat to rest for 15-20 minutes before serving.
