Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I used canned yams instead?

Yes you would. You would skip the first steps but you would have to add a little extra time to allow the yams to heat up since they are already softened. Cook the yams without the topping for at least 2 hours on high and mix at one hour for even cooking. Then add the topping and follow the recipe as normal.

Is the topping crunchy?

The topping is not crunchy because there is not enough heat generated in the crockpot. However, there is more of a gooey texture to the topping that works very well with the peans and the sweet potatoes. But, be very careful because the topping gets super hot and it stays hot for a very long time.
