How To Make Cornbread Waffles

Ingredients needed for the recipe

  • Yellow cornmeal
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Toppings of choice

Tips, where the recipe can go wrong

We all love crispy waffles. The biggest advice I can give is make sure your waffles iron is hot as can be. Also, eat them quickly because after you sit them on a plate they will loose their crispiness with time like anything else. I enjoy my cornbread waffles with butter and a light drizzling of honey.

Making the cornbread waffles recipe

  1. To start, preheat the waffle iron.
  2. Now, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar together. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs the gradually add in the butter then milk until smooth. Combine the dry and wet ingredients.
  3. Spray the waffle iron with a little cooking spray then pour the waffle batter. Cook until golden brown and crispy. Tip, allow the waffle iron to reheat between waffles for the best results.
  4. When waffles are done, serve them quickly or put on an oven safe wire rack. If you place them on a plate or stack them they will be soft by the time you try to serve them.
