How To Make Cabbage And Sausage Soup
Ingredients needed
- Cabbage
- Smoked Sausage
- Onion
- Carrots
- Diced tomatoes
- Garlic
- Chicken broth
- Seasonings (listed below)

Making the cabbage and sausage soup
- First, prep all the ingredients. Slice the cabbage, dice the onion, mince the garlic, slice the smoked sausage and drain the diced tomatoes.
- In a pot, add a little oil then sauté the onions, garlic and carrots. Season lightly with salt and pepper then cook until the onion and carrots have softened and everything is fragrant. If the garlic starts to brown quickly turn down the heat you’re cooking too hot.
- Then, add in the diced tomatoes and sausage then pour the chicken broth right on top of everything. Now, put in the Italian seasoning and season lightly with salt and pepper. You’ll add more later so try not to over do it.
- Bring the pot to a simmer then place the sliced cabbage on top then cover the pot. Cook on a low simmer for 25 minutes. Comeback halfway through and stir the cabbage around in the pot.
- Lastly, once the cabbage is tender do the final tasting for salt and pepper before serving. Be careful the broth is extremely hot.
