How To Make A Salmon Dry Rub
Ingredients needed
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Paprika (smoked or sweet can be used)
- Brown sugar
- Mustard powder
- Garlic powder
- Dried Thyme
- All spice
- Chili powder
The best way to prepare salmon using this dry rub
Whenever you are using spices you want to avoid a ton of heat. Salt and pepper can withstand high heats but spices do not so well. They will burn.
Baking or smoking is the best method in my opinion but the air fryer works well if making salmon bites. I have grilled with spice like this but I suggest the salmon be thin so it cooks fast. This way the spices won’t burn and you can get a flavorful char.
How balanced are the salmon dry rub flavors
This salmon dry rub is more sweet than spicy. Meaning there isn’t a strong burn. You can taste the spices very well but the sweetness wins overall. For a spicer salmon dry rub, toss in cayenne pepper and maybe even marinated the salmon in hot sauce for 15-20 minutes for a spicer dish.
How long will the salmon dry rub last
This dry rub will last as long as your seasonings last. Place in a jar or some sort of container and the dry rub should easily last a few months at a time.
You can easily cook at least 3 salmon fillets with this recipe.
