Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does roasting jalapeños do?

When you roast many vegetables like tomatoes or jalapeños you release new flavors. Caramelization happens within the veggies as it’s broken down with heat. Most veggies are noticeable sweeter once they are roasted, such as corn.

Are roasted jalapeños milder or hotter?

The majority of the heat in peppers come from the stem and seeds. Jalapeños* are a gentle heat unlike something like a habanero or ghost pepper. When roasted most of the heat isn’t noticeable due to a very satisfying sweet, earthy taste that comes from the peppers.
