Recipe Highlights

  • How does it taste: The chicken is super tender in this crockpot parmesan garlic chicken recipe. The base is cream of chicken then flavored with ranch seasoning to give that extra touch of garlic. Everything is slow cooked in this gravy-like sauce with potatoes soaking up all the flavor. Finally, before serving the everything is garnished with a helping of fresh parmesan cheese for that nutty, sharp-like flavor that’s known for parmesan.
  • Skill level: It’s a set it and forget it recipe. Anyone can make it crockpot parmesan garlic chicken that owns a slow cooker. The biggest risk in the recipe is carefully removing the chicken breast to shred them while they are super hot.
  • Storing: If you believe there will be extras, only garnish what you’ll be serving with parmesan cheese. This way you can avoid freezing it and changing the texture of the cheese. Outside of that tip the recipe with keep in the fridge covered in a container for 2-3 days and you can freeze it without worries.

Ingredient tips

  • Chicken: The recipe utilizes chicken breast but anything from thighs, legs or even wings can be used. The skin from the other cuts will actually soak up more of the flavor and are juicier due to the higher fat contents.
  • Cream of chicken: This is the base of the crockpot parmesan garlic chicken. It does great for thickening and lending it’s flavor to the overall recipe. The only swap I could imagine is using broth or a bouillon cube along with cornstarch to thicken the final product.
  • Potatoes: Yukon golds are super creamy and work well with the overall recipe. Any potatoes will work or even subbing or adding other veggies can turn out well for the recipe as well.
  • Ranch seasoning: In the cream sauce this is what gives that added garlic flavor. I’ve experimented with garlic and garlic powder but it’s hard to taste through the flavor of the cream of chicken. Of course, add a tablespoon of garlic powder can work but the ranch seasoning simply provides more of a kick in my opinion and lends other flavors as well such as a touch of onion and the dill weed.
  • Parmesan cheese: Fresh parmesan if possible but if on a budget, the grated parmesan found on most store shelves will due. The addition of the fresh parmesan is really nice because the flavors are stronger and more potent.

What will you make with the crockpot parmesan garlic chicken? It can be a bit standalone paired with something like mac and cheese, twice baked mashed potatoes or even soups like potato or broccoli cheddar. For simplicity you can top a bed of rice or mashed potatoes with the recipe as well.
