How To Make Crockpot Lemonade Chicken

Ingredients needed

  • Chicken breast (sub with any cut of chicken)
  • Frozen lemonade concentrate
  • Ketchup
  • Brown sugar
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Cornstarch

Making the lemonade chicken in the crockpot

  1. To start, grab a bowl and add in the frozen lemonade concentrate, ketchup, brown sugar, salt and apple cider vinegar. Whisk all these ingredients together. The brown sugar may not melt down right away but that is fine.
  2. Next, mix the water and cornstarch together. Now, in the crockpot add all the ingredients and mix everything together.
  3. Remove the chicken from the package and pat it dry if needed. Add the chicken into the crockpot and cover. Cook on high for 3.5 hours or low for 6 hours.
  4. Once chicken is done garnish the bowl with slices of lemon and fresh parsley. Serve with a classic side dish such as rice but be sure to serve with the sauce. Optional, shred and chop the chicken breast.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does this taste like?

The sauce is sweet with a very obvious flavor of lemonade but the ketchup calms it down. Along with the brown sugar the sauce comes out with the perfect blend of sweet and tangy.

How to serve the recipe?

For chicken breast, I think shredding the chicken is the best option. Using something like chicken thighs or legs will allow the skin to absorb the flavors and I like the added fat from the dark meat.

For a side dish, the best things would be white rice. The sauce will mix in well with the rice and chicken. Something like potatoes could be delicious but with the natural flavors of the potato it could be a little odd.
