Amish Hamburger Steak Bake
Amish hamburger steak bake are delicious, juicy beef patties covered in a creamy sauce that's easily baked in the oven for a simple weeknight dinner.
Equipment
- 9×13 baking dish
Ingredients
- 2 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1.5 cup breadcrumbs (Italian)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Sauce
- 2 10.75 ounce cream of mushroom
- 1 cup milk
Garnish
- 1/4 cup parsley (chopped)
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder and the breadcrumbs together. When everything is combined, allow to sit for 10 minutes or so for the breadcrumbs to start acting.
- Preheat the oven to 350℉.
- Taking the hamburger that was sitting and form into patties. You should easily get 6 to 8 patties. Once formed, sprinkle them with the flour, you don't need a lot on each patty.
- Heat of a frying pan and add a little oil on medium high heat. Sear the patties for a few minutes on both sides to give them so browning. Do not try to cook them all the way through, just sear the 2 sides.
- When finished searing, place the patties in the baking dish. In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom and milk. Now, pour the sauce over the seared hamburger patties.
- Cover the dish with foil then bake for 30-40 minutes depending on the thickness of the patties and how well you want them cooked.
- Once done cooking, remove from the oven and carefully remove the foil because there will be steam underneath. Garnish with the parsley before serving once it's cooled, enjoy.
