How To Make Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
Ingredients needed
- Ground beef
- Onion
- Red bell pepper
- Green bell pepper
- Breadcrumbs
- Egg
- Mayonnaise
- White American cheese
- Provolone cheese
- Seasoning (listed below)
Important tips about the recipe
- Philly cheesesteaks can be customized to your personal liking. For example, some people like mushrooms in the cheesesteaks. Whatever veggie you sub with make sure to cook it before adding it into the meatloaf. Get rid of all that excess water before going into the ground beef.
- This is not a recipe where you swap mayo for sour cream. In theory, yes you can but the mayo is there for that mayo taste associated with the sandwich.
- You can use the provolone or the white American cheese. I have had great success with combining them both but I do understand the cost of food these days.

Making the Philly cheesesteak meatloaf recipe
- To start the recipe, prep and cook the onions and peppers. Make sure they are browning, withered and caramelized. Allow them to cool while going to the next step.
- In a large bowl, add in the ground beef. Season the ground beef with the listed ingredients. Next, add in a beaten egg, breadcrumbs, mayo, provolone then the cooked veggies. Fold everything together then cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Now, line a loaf pan then place the meatloaf in and pat it down. Place the pan in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Add the cheese on the top then place back in the oven and cook the meatloaf for another 20-30 minutes. I always use a thermometer to test for the meatloaf. I look for at least 145F before removing from the oven.
- Lastly, allow the Philly cheesesteak meatloaf to cool before removing from the pan and serving.
