How To Make Ground Turkey Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients needed
- Ground turkey
- Onion
- Galic
- Frozen peas and carrots
- Tomato paste
- All-purpose flour
- Chicken broth
- Worcestershire sauce
- Russet potatoes
- Butter

Important tip before starting
Do not skip the flour in this recipe for the turkey. Due to the turkey being low in fat the mix doesn’t come together like beef does. The flour brings all the ingredients together in harmony for a great, meaty base.
Making the shepherd’s pie using ground turkey
- First, leave the frozen peas and carrots out so that they can thaw. Or just place them in fridge overnight. Then place the potatoes in boiling water and cook until soft, about 20-30 minutes.
- Now, prep all the ingredients before starting the recipe. Preheat oven to 400F.
- In a pot, cook and brown the turkey then remove it from the pan.
- Then, add in the onions and garlic and cook them until soft and fragrant.
- Make a little room in the pot and add in the tomato paste. Cook with the onions and garlic for about 15 seconds.
- Now, add back in the cooked ground turkey along with the peas and carrots.
- Add in the chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Lastly, sprinkle the flour across the top then mix. After, add salt and pepper to taste.
- Next, prep the potatoes. Combine all the ingredients together and taste for salt.
- In a 9×9 baking dish add the meat mix first and pat down. Carefully spread the mashed potatoes topping across the meat.
- Place in a preheated oven for 25-30 or until the top starts to brown.
- Remove and allow to cool before serving.
