Helpful tip about the recipe

In this air fryer carrot fries recipe I only use salt and pepper. But what about packing on the flavor?

In reality, carrots get a sweet flavor when roasted. That’s why we love them so much. To add, when you start adding things such as garlic and onion powder they tend to burn very quickly at high heat. And this goes for all forms of cooking not just the air fryer.

For adding flavor if you want I suggest a dip such as ranch or something you enjoy. But, carrots have such a great natural flavor salt and pepper is more than enough to enjoy these.

Making the air fryer carrot fries

  1. To start, you can leave the skin on the carrots, just wash and dry them well.
  2. Next, cut the carrots into 4 quarters. Aim to get each carrot fry about 4-5 inches long. You can help with this at the grocery store when choosing the carrots to make the recipe.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 350F.
  4. Now, in a bowl toss the carrots with oil, salt and pepper.
  5. Once the air fryer is heated add in the carrot fries. Cook for 20 minutes and give the basket a little shake at the 10 minute mark.
  6. Lastly, the fries are done. Allow them to cool a bit before serving.

Will the carrot fries be crispy?

No and I do not like people write click-bait titles claiming they have crispy carrot fries. It’s the same with sweet potatoes. The lack of fiber and the presence of starch is why regular potatoes are crispy and stay crispy after cooking.

These air fryer carrot fries will have a crisp to them when they are fresh out the air fryer. But, after cooling that will go away. However, the taste is still amazing. There is no adding cornstarch or flour to help with making them crispy in an air fryer.
