Make this turkey stuffing casserole with Thanksgiving leftovers. The casserole is easy to whip together with a creamy flavoring to enhance every ingredient. You’ll need a few ingredients but it’s a great way to turn the leftover turkey and stuffing into a brand new dinner recipe.
Recipe Highlights
How does it taste: The turkey stuffing casserole itself has a creamy texture from the cream of chicken and sour cream added. The stuffing is buttery but that will also depend if you’re using box stuffing or something homemade. That also goes for the turkey. If you oven roasted your turkey, fried or smoked it, those factors will also effect the final flavor.
Skill level: A very easy and beginner recipe. After Thanksgiving, not many people want to do a ton of heavy cooking so the turkey stuffing casserole is designed to toss your ingredients together then bake.
Storing: The casserole will keep in the fridge covered for about 3 days or you can easily freeze it for a much later date.
Ingredient tips
- Turkey: I suggest chopping the turkey up finely so that there are bits of turkey in every bite. However, if you’re looking for larger chunks that can work. Simply note that the overall texture of the recipe will be different than what you see in the photos.
- Stuffing: In the photos, the stuffing used is Stove-Top from the box. This is another factor that may cause your stuffing to look different than the photos. Because stuffing is made with bread, my advice is pay attention to how creamy the casserole looks before adding it into the oven. If the turkey stuffing casserole looks dry before going into the oven, it’ll be drier coming out. These tip is for people using leftover homemade stuffing only! Adjust the liquid levels to make sure it doesn’t come out dry but adding milk more broth or more sour cream to boost the moisture. If using box stuffing, you won’t have any issue with the ingredients and measurements provided.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How much stuffing do I use if I have leftovers?
The stove top produces about 2-2.5 cups of cooked stuffing so that will be how much you’ll need to replace it.
