Hamburger Mac And Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 16 ounce elbow macaroni noodles, dry
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 ounce can of evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 8 ounce velveeta cheese
  • 8 ounce block of sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • You will need to make the macaroni separately. To speed things up you can even make the macaroni at the same time. Simply prepare the noodles according to the directions on the package.
  • In a large pot on medium high heat add a little oil then brown the hamburger. 
  • Once the hamburger is almost fully cooked toss in the onions and garlic. Season everything lightly with salt and black pepper. Continue cooking a few more minutes until the onions and the garlic have become fragrant.
  • Lower the heat to medium and pour in the milk and evaporated milk. Then, add in the velveeta cheese and sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Allow the milk to heat up to a light simmer in order to melt the cheeses. Once you see a few bubbles in the milk and it's steaming you can turn off the heat. You do not want to curdle the milk by allowing it to boil.
  • Now, once the cheese have melted you can add in your drained, cooked macaroni and mix everything. You will need to season with salt and black pepper after. Season to taste and serve.
