Equipment

  • 9x9 baking dish

Ingredients

  • 32 ounce bag of frozen tater tots
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 packet chili seasoning
  • 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Mexican shredded cheese
  • 4 ounce Velveeta cheese
  • 15 ounce can of kidney beans, drained & rinsed (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400℉.
  • Now, place the first layer of frozen tater tots in the bottom of the baking dish. Bake them for 20 minutes in the preheated oven. While the tots are baking, make the ground beef mix.
  • In a pan, brown the ground beef. Right before the ground beef is done add in the onions and the beans. Then, add in the tomato sauce, chili seasoning and the Velveeta. Lower the heat so the ingredients can simmer and melt the cheese for a few minutes.
  • When the tater tots are finished in the oven add the ground beef mix directly on top. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of that then layer the rest of the frozen tater tots across the baking dish. There will be a few tater tots leftover.
  • Place the dish back in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes allowing the tater tots on top to turn golden brown. Once they are cooked, remove the casserole.
  • Allow it to cool a bit then enjoy.
