Ingredients

Chicken Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 28 ounce crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt to taste

Topping

  • 1.5 cup mozzarella shredded

Instructions

  • Mix together all the ingredients for the meatballs. Once combined, allow to sit for 15 minutes to let the breadcrumbs do there thing.
  • Preheat the oven to 400℉.
  • Form the meatballs. Then, in a pan on medium high heat with oil, sear the meatballs on 1-2 sides then remove from pan. Just sear them, they will be raw in the middle. Do not try to cook them all the way.
  • Once finished searing the meatballs, add them to the baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the ingredients for the sauce. When tasting for sauce there may be a slight tin flavor from the can but that will bake off in the oven.
  • Pour the prepared sauce over the seared meatballs then top with the cheese. Place in the oven uncovered for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and browning.
