Equipment

Ingredients
 

  • 42 ounce cherry pie filling (this is 2 cans)

Topping

  • 1 cup whole oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 8 tablespoon cold butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉.
  • First, add the canned cherries into the baking dish. In a bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and the extract.
  • Next, add in the butter, then use a pastry cutter to mix the butter into the dry ingredients until crumbs form.
  • Take those crumbs and sprinkle them across the cherries in the baking pan.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 45 minutes. Once the topping is golden, remove from the oven.
  • Allow to cool 15-20 minutes for the top to become crunchy then serve with ice cream or cool whip.
