Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 28 oz baked beans
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • cooking oil, as needed
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Heat a Dutch oven or other oven-safe pot over medium heat with a small amount of oil. Add the ground beef and cook until almost completely browned.
  • Add the diced onion and green bell pepper. Season lightly with salt and black pepper and cook until the onion is translucent and the vegetables have softened. Add a little more oil if the pan becomes dry.
  • Reduce the heat to medium. Stir in the baked beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard until evenly combined.
  • Transfer the pot to the oven and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove from the oven and stir. The beans should be thick but still saucy and stew-like. If they are too loose, return them to the oven and continue baking until they reach the consistency you prefer.
  • Let the beans cool slightly before serving.
