First, peel, chop and weigh out the sweet potatoes. In a large pot, brown the ground turkey then remove from the pot.
Add in the diced onion and garlic. Cook until browning and fragrant. When finished add in 2 cups of broth and the sweet potatoes. Bring to a boil then lower to a simmer, cover the pot and allow the sweet potatoes to soften. It'll take about 10-15 minutes depending on the size you chopped them.
Once the sweet potatoes are soft, grab an immersion blender and blend everything until smooth. After everything is smooth and thick, stir in 2 cups extra of broth. Next, add turkey back in with the beans and taco seasoning and lower the heat to a low setting.
Allow the turkey sweet potato chili to slowly simmer for 45 minutes covered. Occasionally stir the chili every 10-15 minutes.
After the 45 minutes you'll need to add more salt to taste. The taco packet is great and easy way for adding spices but the salt will be lacking in the overall dish.
