Stewed Apples

Stewed apples are a great way to make use of extra apples you have laying around. Stew them down until they are tender then add in a cinnamon to give them a little spice with their natural sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, peeled & sliced
  • 2/3 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  • First, peel the apples. You can cut them into slices or dice them into cubes.
  • Add the prepped apples to a small pot on medium heat. Then, pour in the apple juice and sprinkle in the cinnamon. Allow them to cook uncovered and the liquid to reduce down to half, be sure to stir them every few minutes. Note, for a thicker and less liquid, let the liquid reduce down to a 1/4.
  • Once the liquid has reduced, turn off the heat and add in the lemon juice and butter. Stir those ingredients with the apples.
  • Lastly, after the stewed apples have cooled you are ready to serve.
