Preheat oven to 400℉, prep all ingredients before starting the sauce
Prepare the sauce. In a pot or sauce pan on medium high heat and a little oil then diced onion and diced tomatoes. Cook the onions until they lightly brown and become translucent.
Then, toss in the minced cloves of garlic with the chopped basil and parsley.
Mix this around about 30 seconds then pour in the marinara sauce. Turn off the heat but leave the pan on the hot stove eye.
Next, add in the balsamic vinegar then salt and black pepper to taste.
On the side, prepare the ziti pasta per the instructions on the package.
After the pasta is finished toss the pasta directly into the sauce.
Now, in a 16x8 or 9 inch round baking dish add the pasta and sauce. Then, add about 6 teaspoons of ricotta cheese across the top and spread it through the pasta lightly.
Lastly, top with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until cheese has melted.
Remove from oven and allow to cool a bit then serve. Garnish with chopped parsley or grated parmesan cheese.
