First, you want to make the mix for the hamburger steaks. If you have 30 minutes to allow the mix to sit for the seasonings to work into the beef I highly suggest doing that. Bring all the ingredients together in a bowl then cover.
Now, prep all the ingredients beforehand because the recipe moves fast. If making a side dish, this recipe will take about 20 minutes so adjust the time so that the side dish is done around the same time.
In a frying pan or cast iron, form the hamburger patties then sear them and cook to personal doneness.
When the patties are finished remove from the pan and remove from the heat. You'll want to save about 1/4 cup of dripping in the bottom of the pan. If it's dry add 2 TB butter.
Next, add in the flour and mix around in the pan. Then, pour in the beef broth. Crumble the beef bouillon cube over the gravy and bring the gravy to a simmer.
Add the patties back into the gravy then lower the heat to the lowest setting. Allow the patties to sit in the gravy and baste them with the gravy for about 10 minutes. Then, turn the heat off.
Serve the hamburger steak with brown gravy with mashed potatoes or rice.
