Ingredients
 

  • 3-4 pound pork butt (boneless or bone-in)
  • coarse salt & pepper

Pulled Pork Sauce

  • 3/4 cup plain barbecue sauce
  • 12 ounce Dr. Pepper

Instructions
 

  • First, this is one of this recipes that can be cooked overnight or during the day while your'e away from work.
  • Now, you want to season the pork but with coarse salt and pepper only. Keep it basic so that the soda is the star of the show. How much to use will vary according to the size but you can add more later.
  • Then, place the seasoned pork butt in the crockpot and pour a broth or water around the sides. It doesn't matter because you will drain it later anyways.
  • Place the crockpot on high for 6-7 hours or low for 9-10 hours. Allow the pork butt to cook until it is easily shredded and tender.
  • Now, once the pork butt is done and ready to shred, carefully drain the liquids out of the crockpot. Add the pulled pork back into he slow cooker and shred it. Remove any large clumps of fat if present.
  • Now mix together the bbq sauce and Dr. Pepper then add into the pulled pork. Once eveything is mix taste to see if you need to add anymore salt and pepper.
  • Lastly, serve once cooled with your favorite side dish or on a bun.
