Creamed peas are a great side dish to any meal especially family gatherings during the holidays. Make this buttery, creamy sauce with fresh or frozen peas in under 20 minutes. Such a easy to make recipe right on your stove top!
2cupwhole milk(any milk will do I just suggest whole for flavor)
3/4cupheavy cream
1.5teaspoonsalt
1/2teaspoonblack pepper
2clovegrated garlic
Instructions
In a sauce pan on medium heat add butter. Once butter has melted add in flour and "cook" flour for about 10-15 seconds which means to stir it around the pot.
Slowly pour in milk and heavy cream. It'll look as if you need more flour but allow it to reduce first, it's fine.
Add in your peas. Sprinkle in salt, black pepper then grate the garlic over the cream sauce. Bring to a simmer, continue to stir often because the cream sauce can possibly begin to stick.
Reduce until peas are tender and cream sauce is desired thickness. This should take around 15 minutes. 20 minutes for a extra creamy sauce.
Remove from heat when thickness is reached then serve.
