Equipment

  • 8x8 or 9x9 baking pan
  • Pastry cutter

Ingredients

  • 42 ounce cherry pie filling 2 cans
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 13 tablespoon cold butter

Glaze (optional)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉.
  • In a bowl, add the flour and the sugar together. Then using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour and sugar until combined and crumbly. Line the baking dish to make removal easy.
  • Take about 85% of the dough out and press it into a base crust in your lined baking dish. Then, spread the cherry pie filling across the crust. Take the remaining crumbles and sprinkle them across the top of the cherry pie filing.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 55 minutes. When it's done baking, allow to fully cool. Then, place the cherry pie bars in the refrigerator covered for a few hours to set. This will making cutting them much easier.
  • After cutting the bars, serve and enjoy.
  • Note, if using the glaze, drizzle the glaze over the recipe after it has cooled and before or after you let the cherry pie bars set in the refrigerator.
