Cherry crumble is a simple dessert to make with fresh or frozen cherries. A crumble topping that's crispy and sweet that pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
In a pot, add the frozen cherries on medium heat. Allow the cherries to simmer down until they are thawed and simmering. Next, mix together the sugar and cornstarch then add it into the simmering cherries. Continue cooking until they are thickened, then turn off the heat.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, salt and the cold butter. Use a pastry cutter to mix the butter into the other ingredients. Continue to use the pastry cutter until the crumbles are made.
Sprinkle the crumbles across the top of the cherries in the baking dish. Place the dish in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
The crumbles will turn golden brown in this time. Remove the dish and allow to cool for a minimum of 20 minutes so the top can get crispy. Serve with a scoop of ice cream and enjoy.
