Oven baked barbecue chicken thighs are a super juicy main dish with a flavorful spice rub then topped with sweet, sticky and smokey barbecue sauce.

Ingredients
 

  • 5-6 chicken thighs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Spice rub

  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400℉.
  • Now, combine all the ingredients for the spice rub. Next, remove the chicken thighs from the package.
  • Cover the chicken thighs with the spice rub. Then place on a sheet pan skin side up. You can also use a baking dish as well.
  • Cook in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove them from the oven and carefully drain any dripping from the pan on baking dish. Flip them over and brush BBQ sauce across the bottoms and place them back in the oven for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, remove them from the oven and drain any excess dripping from the pan. Now, flip the chicken skin side up and sauce them. Place them back in the oven for a final 10 minutes before removing.
  • When they are done, allow them to cool a bit before serving.
