Keto hot chocolate is possible and I have a secret that makes it sweet with no aftertaste! Not to mention creamy, rich and only 3g net carbs per cup. Homemade hot chocolate is so easy to make and perfect for those winter month's when you want to snuggle with loved ones. It's keto friendly, low carb and no added sugar grab this recipe now!
1/4cupheavy cream(sub for coconut cream for dairy-free)
2tablespoondutch processed cocoa powder
1/4-1/2teaspoonliquid monk fruit
In a small sauce pan on low heat add almond milk and heavy cream
Whisk then add in cocoa powder, granulated sweetener, liquid monk fruit and coffee
Turn heat up to medium and whisk or use a hand mixer until everything is combined
Once combine remove from heat. Never let it boil so watch you heat. If it starts smoking too much lower heat quickly.
After removed from heat pour in mug and serve. You can even top it with some sugar free whipped cream for a extra creamy touch
Helpful Recipe Tips
Do not let the mix boil! I can't stress this enough. Chocolate isn't meant to get past a certain temperature. If it does it will seize and you'll see it begin to separate. Now, in the video you will notice mine did but this is due to doing too many thing while recording. If the chocolate just seizes and doesn't burn the taste will be the same you'll just find yourself constantly stirring. But, if it burned! Start over again.
Liquid monk fruit is a must. I am adding 2 different sweetness levels. The bottom is barely sweet but using 1/2 teaspoon of monk fruit will make it very sweet as it typically is. Liquid stevia is an option but I recommend you use monk fruit. Chocolate intensifies the aftertaste of stevia so for someone new that won't be very pleasant.
Dutch processed cocoa will give the richest chocolate flavor but you can also use regular cocoa powder as well. If you want to go dairy-free sub the heavy cream out for coconut cream.
