Keto Brownie Recipe

A keto brownie recipe with a rich chocolate flavor and crispy crunch. Homemade brownies are still better than store-bought and I show how easy it is to make them. Loving keto desserts is very possible and it starts with a classic sugar free brownie recipe!

  • 8 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces chocolate bar 88% or higher (nutrition facts based off of 88% chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup dutch process cocoa
  • 2 large egg
  • 3/4 cup powdered or granulated sweetener
  • 1/4 cup blanched almond flour
  • 2 tablespoon coconut flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 serving Lilys Semi-Sweet Chocolate baking chips (about 26 chocolate chips)


  • Preheat oven to 325°F
  • Melt butter, 2 oz of chocolate bar and 1/4 cup of dutch process cocoa together via microwave or double boil method.
  • Now after you have combine all those add in 3/4 cup granulated or powdered sweetener.
  • Next add in almond flour and coconut flour. Mix those until smooth. Lastly add in both eggs and vanilla extract, mix until smooth. Add in chocolate chips. Then, pour batter into a square baking pan. Pan with determine how thick or thin your brownies will be. The thinner they stretch out you will need to lower the cooking time. I used a 7.6 x 7.6 inch square pan in the photos. But, a 9x9 will make very thin brownies.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes checking at 25 minutes.


Is Dark Chocolate Keto

The percentage is what you need to look for. In this recipe, I use anything from 88% up. I find that chocolate with a little sugar helps in the recipe hinting to how I end up with a crispy layer on top. Using 100% is best to avoid any sugar but bitter chocolate takes some getting use to.

Helpful Recipe Tips

  • Fudgy brownie, avoid letting the brownies fully cook. Bake them a little under for the fudge effect when they are done cooling.
  • Dutch process or cocoa powder, both can be used but in my recipes I use dutch process cocoa. It's also the one I recommend you use as well for a rich brownie flavor.
  • Avoid keto milk chocolate, tossing in a few chocolate chips is cool and great on flavor but a rich dark chocolate is best for baking. Using milk chocolate that's keto friendly can have a very light chocolate taste. Now, for those that hate rich chocolate this would be the ideal method for you.
