At only 3g net carbs each these biscuits are the definition of healthy. Naturally gluten free, this almond flour biscuit recipe it’s low carb, paleo and keto as well. Buttery, with a soft, fluffy inside and a crunchy outside to add to your breakfast recipes. I worked to make these the best gluten free biscuits ever with a base of almond flour. They are similar to buttermilk biscuits with a slight salty flavor that pairs with breakfast or dinner. Sometimes, I stuff the biscuits with cheese or mix it in the batter. You can even make them southern style and make a sausage gravy with them. Mix them up in about 5 minutes then drop em’ onto the baking sheet and they’re ready in no time!

Tips For The Best Almond Flour Biscuit Recipe

  • These are drop biscuits. You don’t have to shape and form them such as my other biscuits.
  • Adjust salt levels if needed. These are naturally a bit salty. But, if you don’t want the extra salt make sure to use unsalted butter instead of the salted butter. You can even sub for coconut oil to make the biscuit recipe dairy-free.
  • Can you substitute coconut flour for almond flour? No! Please stick to the recipe. Never switch coconut flour for almond flour because they bake completely differently. Here is a video explaining why. Although, there is a small amount in the recipe it’s for texture purpose. Even if you add a little bit it can make the biscuits dense and hard, so follow instructions.

How To Store Leftovers

If you think you’ll have leftover biscuits be sure to separate the dough that way you can bake them fresh. Something like a storage container or freezer bags work just fine with biscuits. They will keep for several days in the refrigerator and a few months frozen.

Variations

  • Cheddar Bay Biscuits aka Red Lobster biscuits, these have cheddar cheese with the flavor of garlic powder topped with butter and parsley.
  • Keto Biscuits & gravy, this is a great option for southerners that love this very popular mix in the south. If you’re someone looking for a plain keto gravy this recipe will cover you as well.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I eat a biscuit on keto?

In this almond flour biscuit recipe you can! Normally biscuits contain some sort of flour containing gluten which would make the net carbs way too high for a single serving. Starting the keto diet you want to keep your carbohydrates around the 20g net carb range.

Is almond flour better than all purpose flour?

From a health standpoint yes*! All purpose flour is what we are use to but from a health point it isn’t the best thing to eat. For people with gluten intolerances this almond flour biscuit recipe can give them a great biscuit recipe without using gluten.

Can I use baking soda instead of baking powder?

For this almond flour biscuit recipe I say stick with the baking powder. Simply because baking soda needs an acidic counter and the eggs wouldn’t be enough. I didn’t use anything like sour cream, vinegar or lemon juice for texture and taste purposes.

Would coconut flour work in the place of almond flour?

Never sub these two gluten free flours. Instead I created a recipe with coconut flour for you. They are very different but they use only coconut flour.

  1. I just started subbing keto recipes for health. Biscuits and gravy are my fav. I’m a country girl! I pulverized the almond flour more in my food processor because I tried a cake recipe and it was too grainy like cornmeal. They turned out awesome! The gravy was to salty. You mentioned adjusting it. I forgot. It is really an awesome substitute. Thanks so much.

  2. 5 stars
